How I Did Thailand

Jenne Raub August 9, 2015

Whaaaat? You thought just 'cuz I'm back in the good old U.S. of A. my blogging days were gone and done forever?

You thought wrong!

I don't know exactly what form this blog will continue to take now that I'm back on California soil, but I do know I've got a few more updates about where I went and what I saw in Southeast Asia, so get ready for a few more detailed entries about where to stay (or not) should you find yourself in those parts of the world. And moving forward, I'll continue to blog about whatever my little heart desires: travel, food, observations ... you know, life stuff.

But for now, let's get down to business, shall we? I now present for your reading pleasure a recap of the places I went and stayed in Thailand.

Selfie on a Stick

Jenne Raub April 4, 2015

Greetings from Siem Reap, Cambodia. I made here yesterday unscathed, crossing the border at Poi Pet via bus. I'd read some horror stories about how bad the scene can be but thankfully some improvements have been made over the years, namely a Cambodian-run direct bus from Bangkok to Siem Reap -- up until a few years ago, you'd take one bus to the border from Bangkok, go through a myriad of hassles obtaining a visa, then have to take a tuk tuk to the bus station across the border to continue on with your journey to Siem Reap. Also they've apparently paved the road in Cambodia which means a faster trip all around.

One night in Bangkok

Jenne Raub March 31, 2015

One of the really nice things about this blog is that it's mine and I can write what I want when I want to -- that's why sometimes I'm going to post more thoughtful essays and longer-form content and other times just write updates as I see fit, without worrying about whether or not they adhere to some important structure. It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to, etc., etc.

I arrived last night in Bangkok around 1 am after many, many hours of travel. The flight between San Francisco and Hong Kong was 14 or 15, which didn't seem like such a big deal when I booked the ticket (after all, a flight between SF and Europe is usually close to 12) but I was literally ready to get off the flight in about hour 5. Seeing that there were 9 more hours to go on the flight info screen was not exactly encouraging.
