Hard to believe, but I have only four more days of Whole30 to go! The past week has flown by pretty easily; I think I got into a groove (and/or just accepted my new, boring existence) and got through it without thinking (suffering) too much. The lows ... walking by open bags of tortilla chips and guacamole and hummus at work on Wednesday night, going to two friends' birthdays and not being able to partake in a drink (or cheese platter), eating hoisin sauce on lettuce wraps on Wednesday night without realizing they have like 5 uncompliant ingredients in them. I should have known something served for the sole purpose of being delicious was too good to be true. The highs ... uhhhhhhhhmmmmmm ... I'm somehow managing to get through this? I've stopped going to the bathroom every 30 minutes? My friends still want to hang out with me even though I'm not drinking? (Although I guess they're still drinking ... hmm.)Read More
Buenos afternoon, dear readers! I can't believe I'm already on Day 19 of this stupid plan. Stupid, yet I'm sticking with it 'til the bitter, chia-pudding-clogged end.
This week has gone pretty well, although Day 17 was a little rough. So far, I haven't really aligned at all with the Whole30 "typical timeline" and have found most days fine, with some days horrible. Haven't experienced some magical surge in energy or happiness, although I have noticed that on some days my hunger in the late afternoon and early evening is less pronounced than normal. We shall see how I fare over the remaining 10 (!) days. Mainly I'm just counting down the days til bread, cheese, sour dough and wine again.Read More
That's right, folks, I'm officially at the halfway point! Yes, the days of wine and cheese are fast approaching and soon my escapades in making chia pudding will be but a dim memory of the past.
Also, BETTER PICTURES! I got out my legit camera to capture the meals I've been making, which helps big time. It actually makes my dishes look pretty good. I don't think being a full-time food blogger is in my calling (because ughhhhhh, that looks like a lot of work), but at least you won't be looking at plates of what appears to be prison food anymore.Read More
